Intreduction

Tim WATTS returns to Shizuoka with his magical work!

Tim WATTS brought his great work “The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer” to “World Theatre Festival Shizuoka 2012,” when delighted audiences were mesmerized by its puppets, masks and animation films.
This year, he and his co-creators bring their enchanting, magical world back to the festival with the tale of an old man who leaves his beloved home and sets off on a great journey, all the time feeling he is being pursued by a stranger. In this play that fantastically depicts the inner world of a person with dementia, WATTS and his team explore a world hardly understood by other people. Although the piece has no words, it brilliantly expresses the story with imaginative direction that’s sometimes very humorous, and sometimes poetical — but always engaging for audiences of all ages.

Synopsis

An old man leaves his home and heads off into the wilderness, taking his trusty high-quality tent with him. It seems this is not a vacation or pleasure trip. We find he believes he is on a wanted list, and is being chased by an unknown stranger. So he is actually running away to avoid being caught. This old man’s lonely adventure poses the question whether it is really possible to run away from everything?
